Bio
I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, cutting my teeth as a teenager playing gigs in small, sweat-soaked venues across the city. Music quickly became the backbone of my life, but over time my career shifted into teaching guitar. While I valued passing the craft on to others, the pull to make my own music never left. That itch finally brought me back — and this time, I’m all in.

I’m Josh Millar, an independent punk artist based in Brighton, channelling raw energy and unvarnished honesty into high-octane, multi-instrumental performances. Armed with guitar, bass, drums, and my own brand of shout-sung vocals, I craft tracks that fuse gritty punk aggression with unexpected melodic hooks. Influenced by NOFX, The White Stripes, The Chats, and Lambrini Girls, my sound thrives on the DIY spirit — recorded with minimalist gear, steeped in imperfection, and unafraid to be loud about it.

In August 2025, I released my five-track debut EP on Bandcamp and SoundCloud, produced locally to capture the unfiltered punch of my live shows. My stark black-and-white aesthetic mirrors the stripped-down approach to both the music and its message: connection through chaos, defiance in the face of disconnection. Brighton’s grassroots scene is where I’m making noise now — and it’s just the beginning.
