Lyrics

Track 1 - Start

Verse 1

Starting is the hardest part
Sometimes you just need to get the first draft out the way
And you can build on it
And make it better
Just get it out

Stop get caught up in perfectionism
Just accept you’ll be bad in the beginning
It just doesn't matter
What matters is doing something

Chorus

Screaming perfect screaming try
Undoes everything one at a time
Consciousness never here
Follow through cause
Somethings near

Verse 2

Just let go
Just be ok with not being very good
Every person who has ever done anything ever
Has started being bad

Its just something you have to go through
Its parts of the creative process
Its part of being human
Its part of life

Track 2 - Fight

Verse 1
Give up. Don’t start.
False hope. False art.
Whats the point. Waste of time.
Another way that you don’t shine.
Underneath. Feeling sick.
Never show another bit.
Awkward. Hated. Wasted lie
Just another way to  rhyme

Chorus

Push through. Try again.
Failures good right?
You’ll never know what you don’t
Maybe its worth the fight

Verse 2

Give up. Don’t start.
False hope. False art.
Whats the point. Waste of time.
Another way to make a mistake
Underneath. Feeling sick.
Just another fucking theif.
Awkward. Hated. Wasted lie
Just another way to  rhyme

Bridge

Stop. You’re bad.
Stop. You suck.
Stop. You’re bad
Stop, you fuck

Track 4 - Enough

Verse 1

Spilled my drink on the kitchen floor,
Coulda been glass, coulda broke more!
Missed my bus, stood in the rain,
Hey, free shower — can’t complain!

Chorus

Coulda been worse, coulda been rough,
Life ain't perfect but it's good enough!
Kickin’ up dirt, scratchin’ my knees,
Still breathing, still lucky, still free!

Verse 2

Cut me off, slammed on the brakes,
Maybe they just made a mistake.
Stubbed my toe on the doorframe,
Didn’t snap it, still in the game!

Verse 3

Alarm broke, slept through the day,
Guess I needed rest anyway.
Ripped my jeans climbin’ a fence,
New look — call it confidence!

Chorus

Coulda been worse, coulda been rough,
Life ain't perfect but it's good enough!
Kickin’ up dirt, scratchin’ my knees,
Still breathing, still lucky, still free

Track 5 - Won

Verse 1

Everythings changed. Everythings better.
Everythings harder. Don’t sit down
Juggling act. Don’t drop that
Admin. Admin. Overblown
All the love. I’ll Allow
Do it all. Don’t stop now.
Try your best. Don’t know how
Figure it out somehow

Pre 1

Frustrated without doubt
Cant Imagine life without
Hard work makes it. Take a boy
Only thing worth it now

Stressed out. Rest out.
And there’s more
Overwhelming
I adore
Question every
choice I’ve made
Its  Made it clear,
I’ve won the game.

Verse 2

Violent outburst. Kissing cheeks
Smash the dog. Nappie Leaks
All the feelings in one moment
Hold on hold on hold on now
Don’t miss out. Don’t back down.
Soak it in. Don’t blink now.
Stay engaged. Feel it all.
Im so lucky.  watch them grow

Influences

Musical Roots

My music is shaped by the artists that had the biggest impact on me in my teenages year. I am now in my 30s with two children, but as a lot of people have noticed, the music that resonates with you when you're a teenager seems to live on inside you and shape you forever. This gritty, emotive style of music reminds me of the dissatisfaction I felt with the world when I was young. I have so much to be grateful for now, and I think that includes this music that comes from a time when I wasn't sure what I had at all.

NOFX

Iconic Punk Band

NOFX are a huge name in Punk, and I remember seeing them live in Cape Town when I was growing up.

The Chats

High Energy

I enjoy the shouty vocal style and humour of The Chats. Using simple techniques and emotive delivery, I try to connect in a way that is similarly authentic, reflecting the band’s raw energy.

The White Stripes

The Band of My 20s

When I met my wife (then girlfriend) in my early 20s, we spent hours and hours listening to The White Stripes. Jack White has created so many anthems of my adult life and I admire how minimalist, and solo his work often is.

Soft Play

Confrontational Spirit

I am influenced Soft Play’s heavy effects, straightforward drumming, and gritty vocals. Drawing on humorous and personal themes in my songwriting, I try to convey an honest and unpretentious style.
